Instructions for Poster Presentations

The following guidelines will be of help when you prepare your poster presentation.

Preparing your poster

Poster board size

  • Size of usable area: A0 landscape (125 cm wide and 100 cm high)

Text on poster

  • Use a clear typeface and, if possible, a laser printer.
  • Limit the amount of text on your poster: it should be inviting for readers, and does not require the level of detail included in a research paper.
  • The poster should be readable from a distance of 2-3 meters. This means that all lettering should be at least 8mm high, with a minimum font size of 24.

Graphs and diagrams

  • Graphs and figures should also be readable from a distance of 2-3 meters. Therefore, use a minimum line width of 1 mm.

  • ‘Handouts’, photocopies of either your individual poster units or the whole presentation reduced to A4 format, are generally well appreciated by delegates.

  • The Poster Sessions will be organized on Thursday January 24, from 13.30 – 14.15 hours; and Friday January 25, from 13.15 – 14.00 hours.
  • All Poster authors are kindly requested to be present at their poster during the entire session.
  • All delegates are invited to walk around the poster area to view the posters and to enter into lively and challenging discussions with the poster presenters.

Poster award nomination process

  • During the sessions, all posters will be rated by a poster-award committee. The two top-rated posters will receive the ARPH Poster Award (one award for each day).
  • Apart from the poster awards, the authors of the eight top-rated poster abstracts will be invited to provide a poster pitch on stage during the poster sessions. The selected candidates for the pitches will be notified in the beginning of January.

Poster Area

  • Posters and pitches will be presented in the lounge hall, which is located close to the Abdij Hall.
  • You will receive the number assigned to your poster and the day on which you have to present in your email.
