ARPH Meet a Mentor program

The ARPH is excited to offer the Meet a Mentor program at this year’s conference—a unique opportunity for Early Career Researchers (PhD candidates, postdocs) to gain personalized (career) advice from experienced senior researchers.

In this program, you can schedule a 30-60 minute one-on-one session during the conference with a mentor to discuss questions and concerns about your career development. Prior to the meeting, you’ll share a brief summary and specific questions to guide the conversation.

These sessions are designed to focus on broad career topics, such as:

  • Deciding between an academic career or a career outside academia.
  • Making choices during your PhD to build an international career.
  • Strategies for achieving work-life balance.
  • Tips for securing funding and grant opportunities.
  • Gaining clarity on your research focus or developing expertise in a specific field.

This is your chance to receive advice from someone outside your immediate supervision, offering fresh perspectives and unbiased guidance. Whether you’re looking for strategies to navigate your next steps, feedback on your career plans, or insight from a senior researcher with a different background, this program is tailored to support your development.

A little bit about the procedure:

Early career researchers can indicate their interest in the program during registration. After registering, Early Career Researchers will receive a list of potential mentors and can rank their top 5 preferences. Matches will then be made based on these preferences.

Take advantage of this valuable opportunity to connect, learn, and grow!
